Celebrating Women in Leadership: Meet Our Founder, Leanne

At Dynamic Downsizers, we are proud to be a women-founded, women-owned, and women-led company. This International Women’s Month, we’re celebrating the incredible leadership and vision of our founder, Leanne, whose entrepreneurial spirit and compassion have shaped the heart of our business.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Leanne grew up surrounded by the values that come from Prairie life, hard work, resilience, and a deep sense of community. Summers spent with her grandparents in rural southern Saskatchewan helped shape her appreciation for family, connection, and the importance of helping others, values that continue to guide her work today.

At just 18 years old, Leanne moved to Toronto on a scholarship from her competitive dance career. There, she began building both her family and her professional path. As a proud mom of three, Leanne balanced the demands of life with the joys of raising a family, acting auditions, soccer and hockey practices, dance lessons, and supporting aging parents, all along the way.

With more than 25 years of experience in business operations, including sales, purchasing, bookkeeping, and national account management, Leanne developed a strong foundation in business leadership. During her time at News Corp Canada, she managed in-store marketing for major retailers including Loblaws, Zehrs, Fortinos, and Zellers, an experience that sharpened her strategic thinking and project management skills.

In 2014, Leanne returned to school as a mature student to pursue another passion: interior design. After graduating, she launched Masellis Designs, combining creativity with practical design solutions that help clients truly live well in their spaces.

But it was her passion for helping families through life transitions that ultimately led to the creation of Dynamic Downsizers.

By bringing together her business expertise, design background, project management skills, and compassionate nature, Leanne built a company dedicated to supporting seniors and their families through one of life’s most emotional transitions, downsizing and moving to a new chapter.

Since founding Dynamic Downsizers, Leanne and her team have helped hundreds of families navigate moves, estate clearings, and downsizing journeys with care and dignity.

In 2025, Leanne achieved another milestone when she pitched Dynamic Downsizers on Dragon’s Den, an unforgettable experience that reflects just how far her vision has grown.

Leanne’s mission has also become deeply personal. After losing her father to complications of vascular dementia in 2024, she became even more committed to supporting families navigating cognitive decline. Today, Dynamic Downsizers works closely with the Alzheimer Society, and every team member participates in ongoing dementia education and training. Our passion for this work led us to create our own internal certification program, The Ralph Weber Dementia-Informed Transition Training, named in honour of Leanne’s father and dedicated to helping our team better support clients living with cognitive impairment and their families.

One of the initiatives closest to her heart is the company’s “Heart to Home” package, designed to help seniors feel safe, comfortable, and emotionally connected to their new living spaces during times of transition.

For Leanne, the most rewarding moment is simple: seeing a client walk into their newly downsized home and feeling relief, comfort, and joy.

Dynamic Downsizers continues to grow thoughtfully and sustainably, guided by Leanne’s belief that this work is about much more than moving belongings, it’s about helping people move forward with dignity and care. This isn’t just a business. It’s a mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and their families.
