It’s About So Much More Than Boxes
At Dynamic Downsizers, our work goes far beyond packing boxes and decluttering spaces. We’re guiding our clients through some of life’s biggest transitions—offering support, reassurance, and expertise every step of the way.
For individuals living with dementia, this process can be especially challenging. A change in environment, unfamiliar people in the home, and the emotional weight of downsizing can all feel overwhelming and disorienting. In Canada, it’s estimated that by the year 2050, over 1.7 million people will be living with dementia, making it more important than ever for businesses and communities to do their part to make experiences like moving and downsizing as dementia-friendly as possible.
That’s why at Dynamic Downsizers, we’ve made a firm commitment to ensuring all of our team members are specially trained to support individuals living with dementia and their care partners. We’ve partnered with our local Alzheimer Society to receive dementia-specific education, and it was truly a pleasure—and an eye-opener—to learn directly from their expertise so we can deliver the highest level of care.
We’re proud to be recognized as a dementia-friendly business and to have completed U-First!® Training. This full-day program helps non-registered healthcare providers build a shared understanding, language, and approach to caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive impairment. It teaches how to understand the person behind the behaviours and how to work as a team to create individualized support strategies.
As part of our ongoing learning, we’ve also refined our services with our Heart to Home Cognitive Care package, which includes a gentle follow-up visit 1–3 days after move-in. This gives clients with cognitive impairments extra time and attention to adjust to their new surroundings. Our specially trained team offers familiar faces, reassurance, and compassionate guidance—helping seniors feel safe, supported, and truly at home.
Because for us, it’s not just a job—it’s a responsibility. We believe every person deserves a smooth downsizing experience, and that starts with being properly trained, informed, and deeply committed to care.
